On December 21, 2006, members of Barre City Firefighters, Local 881 were honored to have the Governor of the State of Vermont, the Honorable James Douglas (R), helping them deliver Christmas presents and a bag of groceries to those less fortunate citizens of the the City of Barre, Vermont.  Members of Local 881, helping members of the Barre City Police Officers Association, AFSCME Local 1369, delivered presents and food to over two hundred sixty (260) families during Local 1369's annual Christmas for Kids program.  This was the fifth year in a row Local 881 members assisted Local 1369 with this worthwhile program, including joining forces this year with the Mayor Thomas Lauzon and the entire City Council on December 09, 2006 to collect over $4,000.00 in monetary donations and filling a Fire Department Ford F-350 pickup with new toy donations in a four hour period.
