Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont and Senator Leahy host Chili dinner; raise $8,000 for the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation
Updated On: Dec 15, 2009
On Friday December 11th, the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont and Senator Patrick Leahy sponsored a Chili Dinner to benefit the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation.  The event successfully raised $8,000 for the Foundation, with over 100 guests in attendance.  Brigadier General Steven Cray, the head of the Charitable Foundation, was also in attendance on behalf of the Vermont National Guard.  He expressed great appreciation for the funds raised, as this coincided with a deployment of 350 troops earlier that day, leaving behind many family members who will be served by this foundation.  Professional Fire Fighters from across the state, wearing their “Support the Troops” red t-shirts, and their families, were at the event to help serve the dinner at the South Burlington High School.  The Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont and Senator Leahy would like to thank all of the guests who came out to support this cause and to our sponsors: The Vermont Soup Company, the Hilton Burlington, the Sheraton Burlington, the Essex Resort and Spa, the DoubleTree Hotel, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation.
